Yet another fantastic day on this lovely beat. Can't believe it's already been a year since we were last here. This time not only was the weather better but so was the fishing. Had two grayling of about 12'' and one, my personal best, of about 18''. This was taken on a LT Klink and the other two were taken on a Red Tag and a Czech nymph. Lost a few as well. Last cast also saw a small wbt fall to a Czech nymph. All in all a truly memorable day. Cheers WUF and cheers to Lily my wonderful wife for arranging the surprise birthday session xxx

River high and coloured, borderline unfishable, but we gave it a go. Searching out the deeper pots and eddys, we managed 3 grayling and a couple of WBT on heavy shrimp and peeping caddis patterns. Nothing big but any catch in the conditions felt like a victory.

A good day - 8 grayling between the two rods including two cracking fish at 18". Most fish came to nymphs with a couple on an LT klink. Several parr and a couple of v. small trout were also encountered on a very low and clear river. Many thanks WUF.

1 x 10" grayling caught (and returned) on a size 16 klinkhammer. A westerly gusting wind made casting conditions tricky, and reduced the number of fish rising. But a terrific beat with some lovely water.

4 small trout caught and returned. Had hoped to fish an evening rise but not much moving. All fish took a Peter Ross.

Arrived at the bottom of the beat and guess what? An otter! That's three this year and it's 35yrs since I had seen one previously. Prospects didn't look good with a major predator on the beat and so it proved. Perfect water, no rises or sign of fish until the very top of the beat where I was rewarded for my efforts with a 9in brownie which appeared to be a well mended stockie. Nothing like as pretty as the wild fish. G/h pt nymph under a Klink NZ style. Double edged sword these otters!

When we was coming on the river the level was very high and the water was very dark! We didn't catch any fish of course and after one hour we coming back at the cottage! We are not very happy of course for our first fishing trip!

Watch out! Red telephone box in directions is overgrown and hard to spot.
Day washed out due to heavy rain and very fast, coloured water.
As Arny says " I'll be back "

Very tranquil location. Last time I was up here (last year) I saw an otter. None sighted this time, and nothing much to see anywhere save a steady confident solitary rise between and under protective overhang. A couple or more flies and nearly all patience were lost to foliage but persistence paid off when the rise went for and took a size 14 klinkhammer. A plump maybe 1.5lb trout gave tremendous sport for 10 minutes, was landed and duly returned (catch and release only here). Apart from missing one other take that was all the sport I had - but that one fish made it all worth while!
