Fly fishing for grayling, but no grayling caught or seen. I am sure huge those long flat glides hold grayling somewhere! Trotting likely to be more effective, I think.
Caught a couple of lovely dace.
Just under 1m on the Erwood gauge, which was fine, but a bit lower might make access to the upper section easier.
Very warm, some small upwings hatching but nothing rising. Will we get enough cold weather for spawning, I wonder?

1 Trout, 2 Other

Started at 8am. Levels low and water fairly clear. A long morning, with just two Chub landed. Picked up a little in afternoon, but still pretty hard going. Then from 5pm onwards, rush hour. 2 good Barbel (7lb mark) and a further 8 Chub. Perseverance rewarded.

Beautiful beat. Fishing was tough. A few small fish and a whopper of an OOS brownie.

Hard fishing today as the wind was awful..
Tried a few different things but only hooked 2 Eels.
One was 3lb+ though.
Will keep on trying I know there's Barbel in the Stretch..

Both fished from the lower field opposite the camping tap. Fished from 09:30 using feeder. First bite /catch not until 15:30 using meat/ pellet in the feeder with hair rig meat on the hook. First chub 4 and 1/2lb+ the other 3 about the 2lb mark. One angle alternating between maggot and meat blanked.

Good river level. Overcast all day. A variety of small nymphs under a dry dropper just seemed to attract OOS trout. Most of the grayling were caught using a size 18 Griffith's Gnat.

River at .92 on the Erwood gauge. Low and clear.
With an air temp of 21 degrees, bright and sunny, I wasn’t expecting much action today.Very quiet with no sign of salmon or grayling.
