I should of researched a little better, this was my first visit to the Wye and was hoping for a glimpse of a Wye barbel, I booked lower symonds yat, absolutely stunning place, but not a barbel stretch in these low/slow/hot conditions, never took a rod out the van in three days of looking
I will be back, booking and access info was great, I’ll chose more wisely next time

Warm day with fairly low water levels. Track busy with other users, especially upstream from Biblins Footbridge. We fished the Sliding Ground stretch from lunchtime until 9:00pm. It was slow going with few bites. Finally, one abrupt barbel take at about 8:30pm. Beautiful, pristine fish, caught on large hair-rigged halibut pellet.

Fantastic spot for fishing. We used sweetcorn and Spam as bait.
We caught two Eels just after lunch about 1:30 and the Chubb was just before we left at 7pm.
