River at 0.4 and falling on the Byton gauge, still a bit coloured after the small rise earlier in the week.
Managed 6 grayling between 6 and 8 inches, and landed my p.b. of 15 inches.
All taken on a ptn under a klinkhammer.
Fantastic day.
The small fish which were everywhere last week seem to have disappeared.

The river was very turbid and high today and I doubted whether it was worth fishing, but I managed one trout on the French leader, and no grayling at all.

A good day on this lovely beat. The first few fish were taken on a heavy pink tagged nymph but on seeing fish rising in the afternoon I switched to dries. These moved several fish but I failed to connect so I scaled down to a size 18 Griffith's Gnat and was then able to take a few more. Some of the fish were a good size so all in all a very satisfying day.

River at 0.37 falling slowly on the Byton gauge. Water slightly coloured.
Overcast but the sun broke through after midday.
Grayling all between 8 to 12 inches, trout both 12 inches, the other was a minnow. All on a size 18 ptn fished below a klinkhammer.
Also had a lot (20+) 3 inch grayling. River seemed to be alive with them. These mostly taken on the dry. How do they get their mouths on to a 14 hook is a mystery.

Warm and overcast pretty much all day, and with the water low and slightly coloured we were able to wade throughout the beat. We took fish all day, and from both fast riffles and deeper pools, managing to find a couple of shoals that provided great sport. We totalled 34 Grayling between us, most caught with small weighted PTNs or Pink Shrimps. All fish looked in great condition, and were safely returned.
Many Thanks !

Lyepole seldom fails to deliver. The river was up a couple of inches, with a good flow, and still carrying a bit of colour from last weeks' rain; but was probably the better for it. Steady progress, none of the flurries of fish I normally associate with Lyepole at this time of year, but a dozen plus from upstream before lunch. All on a tungsten nymph. Were it not for the otter and the cormorant that I was sharing the beat with, I might have had a few more; the cormorant was particularly troublesome, surfacing right along side me on one occasion, and giving me the evil eye, before flapping off to spoil the next pool. Downstream after lunch. Odd fish on a nymph before a switch to a klinkhammer, after seeing a fish rise, brought another half dozen plus in rapid order from the same run

River was pretty washed out from the rain before and through the day and running strong, making access a little tricky in some spots.
Water was completely muddy, with only a few inches visibility, and loads or debris.
Fishing the foam / debris line I had one surface take on a red tag.
The only productive method I found was to tight line nymph the edges of Eddy's and foam lines with bright fly's roza pink tag, pink shrimp, orange something, and at the end of the day a few on a squirminator.
Epic stretch of river would love to see it on a clearer day.
