Day started off not to well (forgot my kelly kettle) but lovely beat. Plenty of fly activity but nothing rising. Managed to catch six trout to 8ins on spiders and goldheads before falling in. Still great day and will be back.

Reasonable conditions although a tricky wind at times. Sparse fly life and no rising fish. caught two Brown Trout of about 9ins and lost two others, one a much better fish, all on weighted nymphs in the faster, deeper runs.

Minus 0.5 C on the car temperature guage as we drove past Lucton School at 07:00 hrs. A postively balmy + 2.5 C when we parked at Sned Wood 10 minutes later but, Jeez, it was cold in the river (especially when venturing past the Plimsoll Line).

The cold - together with the bright sun and the clear river - may go someway to explaining the relative paucity of fish. I finished up with 4 Grayling - including a very nice fish of around 1.5lbs - and 3 Trout. All on nymphs. Sporadic dry hatch in the afternoon - but I only saw one fish rise all day. Tom (who suffered a holed wader)will file his own report!

Nice day on the Lugg at lyepole but with a cool wind which was fairly brisk at times. I caught 5 grayling upto 15 inches and my brother had three to 12 inches plus a fair few small grayling (5 inches) all taken on nymphs. No sign of any trout which surprised me as 2 weeks ago i caught trout there in less favourable conditions.

My first visit to this beat. It was a warm day with sunshine and showers. I caught 5 trout and 2 grayling one of which was 15 inches. The other fish were from 7 to 10 inches. Caught on march brown imitations (mainly nymphs but did manage one on a dry). This is a pretty beat which I will definitely return to.

River very low and clear. I started with wets and spiders my friend streamer. Then we tried nymphs. Despite 7 hours effort no trout were caught. There were no sign of life apart from a few grayling we caught.

Caught 8 fish 6 grayling and 2 trout, spooked a cormarant!
That was a first. All fish returned to fight another day.
A rare day for me in that the weather was reasonable no trees bent double or white horses on the water :-)it was my
first visit to this beat and I was quite impressed. Caught on ptn and hares ear nymphs largest fish was 38cm. All was going so well I decided to stop for a coffee at mcdonalds (good latte ) despite my car having 2 cup holders i held the cup between my knees to add suger you can guess the rest! A soggy ride home and no drink.
