A beautiful day on the river but my is that water still cold!! A small flush of olives mid afternoon bought a couple of sporadic rises but nothing sustained yet. Both fish came to nymphs , think it will take a few more days of warm weather to get the trout truly moving.

A beautiful day on which to start the 2025 season. Blue sky, no wind, clear water. Fishing was quite tough. No hatches of any sort. Lost one fish, another better fish to the net. Fished klink and dink, both fish hooked were on a Duracell nymph.

A hard frost, clear bright sky...so not ideal conditions. I've been watching some of Dave Robert's videos which are a good reminder that its easy to blame the beat, water conditions and weather for a lack of fish...but most of the time its cos i'm being lazy, sat on a chair waiting for bites. So a couple of hard hours work with the catapult and frequent casting got me into a regular bites and a good haul of chub. Decent barbel of 8 1/2 came on a big lump of meat, most of the chub on corn or meat. The chub didnt match the stamp of fish that i found here a couple of weeks ago, with most being around the 2lb mark . When the ground thawed the banks became treacherous, so i got back to my truck looking like i'd been mud wrestling rather than fishing....having just about avoided sliding in for a swim on a couple of occasions...so do take care!

A beautiful Spring day and mostly warm, but the water was very cold at 5 degrees. A trickle hatch of LDOs brought one or two fish up resulting in one caught and one lost.

Bright and sunny with a cold downstream wind. Counted 5 LDOs and no rises. The track is a bit rough - decent ground clearance required.

Sharp overnight frost combined with a low and clear river level almost certainly contributed to a challenging day.
