I suppose when booking beats 6 months in advance you never know what the weather will be. Hottest day of year so far and an absolute belter., but first of all a huge thank you to CB from Bradford on Avon for suggestion of taking a rope.
I bought a rope, took it but didn't use it to access the swim, but very useful when I fell in, complete with ruckbag. There was 3 foot drop from river to bank, an undercut bank, and soft mud/silt to stand on. Impossible to get out. About 10 yards downstream a tree and fallen into river giving a space to get out and crawl up the bank with the help of the rope and Chris pulling me in.
I will be taking a rope whenever I fish the Wye in future and also ensuring that there is at least 2 of us fishing, just in case.
As for the fishing we tried different swims, tactics and baits but couldn't buy a bite.
Great beat, shallow at best of times. Please also remember to print off latest beat details, which I hadn't, and of course the code to enter the beat has changed. A huge thank you to WUF / Alison for answering the phone and giving us the correct code.

Beat:Edw Cregrina
Fishing:Trout (River)

Hadn't fished Creggy for about a month, so, an early one was done on this old favourite ....half eight till half eleven .....
Reading 21 even when I parked ip at 8:15am !!! Was going to be another toastie one !!!!
Low and clear, with wading like Neil Armstong on the moon !!! The fish were quite happy to smash a well presented dry, in the streamy stuff ...
I temperature dipped the river when I started at bang on half eight ...Reading 13.5 degrees....I was good to go !!!!
Lovely aggressive hits in the pool heads today, and i only fished up to Glan Edw farm then cut out inti the field, where that heat really hits you after been under the cool canopy of those long glides .....
Eight to my net, the usual stamp for Creggy ....And, three more that did their Houdini impressions at long range !!!
A fun session, nice to see the dippers so active, but was saddened to see , near the bottom of the beat, the farmer on the other side of the river has dumped a huge load of brash over his stock fencing, into the river ... nearly filling what was a lovely trouty pool, where the stream joins the Edw ....Shame, and very thoughtless to be honest....I'll email Allyson with my photos ....
Otherwise another three hours in paradise... happy days!!! Back here when its had a drop of rain......

Hot day fished early and late .
Barbel on rolled meat and pellet PVA bag .
All fish caught in the faster water .
Hard to find at the moment as a quarter of the beat is impossible to fish due to the management of the bank on the stretch between Foy bridge and St Mary’s great shame there looks some great areas to explore.

Fantastic fishing again on this beat. The bottom half is just sublime in summer, with many large fish. Caught a fish of 2lb and another of 3lb with careful stalking on dries. Doesn’t get much better.
One smaller fish did have quite a few fish lice

Beat:The Clywedog
Fishing:Trout (River)

Nice to be out solo today ....A none guiding day, so what and where to go ...The little Clywedog , its shaded, stays lovely and cool, even on a smokin hot day !!!
Dipped it first thing after half nine, water temp reading 13.5 degrees ...Happy with that !!!
The dry fly sport was pretty good, in the riffley fast stuff ...Nothing big today, just wee chaps that fancied a terrestrial casualty !!!! Great fun as always .....
I only fished up to the Elan Pipes ....Lots of recent otter prints seen, and was nice to see lots of kingfisher activity as is the norm here ....
Think I'll try one more shaded stream tommorrow, then it'll be the Elan outflow for me, till it cools down again ...
A fun session, on one of my favourite beats.... will be back here sooooooooon !!!!! Lovely job ....
