A difficult start to the day as one of us (not me!) misjudged the conditions in dealing with the flooded bit of track and got his car stuck. Many thanks go to Allyson at WUF for reporting our predicament to the landowner, them for responding, and the ever brilliant Stefan for towing the car out with a tractor.
That apart, conditions looked perfect for this time of year: high and dropping, loads of colour, 8.1 water temp. I blanked from a normally reliable swim but Steve managed two barbel of 3 and 5lb from two different swims on feeder and 10mm halibuts, both in the few few casts after starting. Good chat with two nice lads from Windsor, and help from the fifth chap with my car slipping - we really are a pretty decent bunch us anglers.

River running at 2.5m on Ross gauge, air temp 7-9 degrees C.
I fished solely at the lower end and between rain, bites were not exactly prolific. Caught 4 chub to around 4lb on maggot feeder or meat on GB feeder. Lovely well kept venue kept by Stefan which I assume accounts in part for the price increase on this beat. To be fair this beat has more fishable swims than many other WUF venues.

River in flood today and tricky to find fishable slack water but managed to get one 7lb barbel from the North bank on spam using feeder. Nothing on other baits. Levels were falling through the day but the island at the eastern end remained cut off throughout.

River peaked and started dropping. Was just in its banks. Lovely place to fish. Lots of swims have ropes.
Stefan the bailiff was very helpful.
