Very brief trip, fished for 40 mins before called away on family duty and blanked. Points for future fishers to note: a 6 mph forecast Westerly equated to a gale blowing down the lake from the South. If I had time I would have moved from the West shore to the East, being a right handed caster. Local knowledge is key.
Wading was vile. Water levels were so low that many areas were silty soft sand which I do not enjoy.
But don't let these negative comments deter you. This is a superb place to fish for wild brown trout. Some rain over winter and this will be fantastic place to fish next spring.

Very interesting day at MHC….Only 2 Rods fished from 10.30 AM to 6.30 PM…One caught 20 Barbel with not a single Chub and the other Rod fishing a couple of hundred yards away struggled for just 2 Chub….River was in great shape and the Barbel were all quality fish averaging around 6lb.

Despite the rain I had lovely afternoon.
Had 1 Barbel and lost another. Sometbung kept taking my hooks, had some rod bending bites then nothing and 3-4 inches of hooklink gone.
I'm wondering if there's a lot of pike there?
