First time fishing this beat, bit of a challenge to say the least!! Lots of vegetation and very difficult to negotiate with bank access overgrown and very limited casting space. However achieved five lovely trout to hand using a Grey Wullf pattern as there were plenty of Mayflies hatching. There were some torrential downpours and this freshened the water and increased the fish activity when accompanied by some late evening sunshine. I found the downstream part of the beat gave much better opportunities as there were bank areas which allowed a more 'relaxing' cast, however I was never really sure where the downstream beat ended? All in all a good 'wild stream' beat which gives rewards if you are prepared to crawl, fight the vegetation and achieve a decent cast

Warm, mixed skies, pretty still, with a good amount of insect life around. A few mayfly stragglers, but mainly on to the BWOs/other small upwings now. Dries, nymphs and small streamers all caught, mostly 8" ish, a couple up to 12", all feisty fish in great condition. Photo a typical example - bright colours and distinct remaining parr makrs. An enchanting mallard family company and regular flypasts from the kingfisher capped a wonderful afternoon and evening.

First time on this best , arrived and headed off in the field upstream, towards far end of field is a deep swamp managed to loose both wellies getting very cross and muddy. Finally extracted myself headed downstream to a likely spot and cheered up by catching a couple in quick succession. Things really improved when fishing pal Greg arrived with a fab lunch washed down with black water. Headed downstream further but very inaccessible overgrown and shallow came back to start and six more fish came to a ptn. Very few rising. Good day out but limited fishing spots certainly for 2 anglers.

A very late return, apologies, I thought I had submitted this previously but evidently not. An excellent afternoon/evening, with 6 to nymphs in the afternoon, and another 10 mainly to dries after a torrential downpour freshened things up in the evening.

Frisky cows in field and in the river next to the parking spot, and a shiny new 3 strand barbed wire fence further downstream necessitated some nettle bashing and belly crawling at times.

This is the first year I've fished the Arrow, what a lovely river! Fished 3-5pm. Fish rising regularly. Caught a few small fish (Klink and Dink- all took the GRHN). I might have fared better in my younger more nibble years and with a 7 foot rod!

Up with the bats this morning , again !!! Pooch out for a bimble , fed the pigs, let the hens out then off to Hergest Court beat if the lovely Arrow again . . .

Was a mild cooler morning than of previous days , and overcast yeeeeeah, a nice change , and sport from the off was great , my own tried and tested nymphs to begin , and savage takes , in some occasions literally straight away on landing on the water!!!! The brownies greedy , and feisty this morning . . .

I did see an otter at the bottom of the beat briefly , then he showed up again five minutes later , too quick to manage a quick phone piccie, never mind , and I think he soon scented me too !!!! No harm done on the upstream pools , at least I thought!!!

Didnt fish all the way up to the bridge , perhaps hundred yards short , superb action all morning , alot to the nymph, and although a few mayfly about, they were left unscathed . . . Fish ranging this morning from six to twelve inches, and twenty one to the net , seven or eight slipping the barbless hooks , cest la vie . . .

A smashing morning and a great start to a small mini break , back to the Ponderosa and crack on with some garden jobs I guess ,oh well , no peace for the wicked hey !!!!!!!

A very difficult day on the river, with bright sunshine and low water.
I saw plenty of fish, but couldn't tempt a take. Every time the fly hit the water they spooked, even if it landed 6ft from them.
When I did manage to present a fly the fish would investigate the fly, and then decided not to take it. I tried load of flies, dry and wet, but couldn't tempt a bite.
A very nice beat that I must try again in better conditions.

Dry fly used - Mayfly were in evidence but the fish were not interested, however the Wagtails had a feast!
It was a very hot, sunny day - the river was fairly low. Wading quite tricky in parts. Below the outbuildings for the main house, a fallen tree straddles the river, stopping my progress.
