All fish caught paste wrapped pellets. River dropping from previous day. Bit of a hike but worth the effort. Would love to come back one day.

First time visiting this beat after being recommended by a friend. Advised to head to the pacy water at the stones in the low clear conditions. After a slow start at the bottom end of the pool with one Barbel and five Chub and a few sets of gear lost to snags we fished the top end of the pool and got amongst the Barbel. My fishing buddy then dropped to the lower end of the pool and float fished for Chub for a few hours in the afternoon enjoying some hectic sport whilst I concentrated on the barbel. We ended the day with 9 Barbel and 15 Chub and around 10 Dace. Feeder tactics and small pellet hookbaits proving most effective for the Barbel and trotting corn working well for the Chub. Thoroughly enjoyable day.

Fish caught by rolling meat and feeder. 2 Anglers fished. The fish were in the faster water.River had some fresh water in.

Caught 5 chub mainly on sweetcorn using feeder, all around 3 lb. First time on the Wye and a bit disappointed on the number of swims available due to access.

Lovely fishing morning, cool and overcast, but water still crystal clear with little flow. Fished the stones up into the faster water 0930 to 1630 with bomb and bags. Had a 6lb barbel after an hour then a 5lber an hour later. 4 chub as well. Swapped to a gb feeder lunchtime and added 4 more chub. Back on the bags for the last 90 mins for another 5lber and one lost on a cutoff. Hookbaits various. So a good day.

so i joined the many others on an annual pilgrimage to the lucky stones - had some great sessions in the past - so was hopeful despite the low water. Fantastic morning - trotted a stick for a few hours picking up a dozen chub and a few dace - before switching to the feeder and bagging 3 decent barbel 6,7 and something close to 9. the fishing gods then decided i was having way too good a time - so was swiftly followed by two lost fish (just wrapped me round something solid) - four lost feeders in four chucks and a string of snapped hooklinks. i think it was just the pace of the water and the amount of weed that picked up in the afternoon - dragging the feeder across the rocky bottom. with nothing heavier than a 90g feeder in my box i switched back to the float for a few more chub - before heading back over the hill...great morning..frustrating afternoon.

A great day's fishing in a beautiful spot.
Hard work getting to the Stones and could be tricky in wetter conditions, but worth it today as not too slippy. My rope was handy accessing the swim.
My first ever barbel on the float, using meat as bait, the rest on ledgered pellets.
Water temp. 17.8°.
