Slow start to the session on the bottom limit, temperature was at 4c when we started and the river was falling from some some the days before. Better luck at the top of the beat with a few small grayling to weighted nymphs. Some of the hardest and most dangerous wading I've experienced, take a stick!

5 Grayling

First time on this beat. Fished the upper section. Overcast windy and drizzle throughout the afternoon. The wading wasn't quite as difficult as I expected but I was still glad I had my wading staff and newly studded felt-soled boots. A few sporadic rises to the Griffith's Gnat resulted in OOS trout. Grayling came to a team of spiders. I missed a fair few chances due to lightning fast takes so potentially could have had a better return but great fun and a good challenge. I look forward to trying again in the spring.

2 Trout, 2 Grayling

A dreary morning - never quite raining, but damp enough to get you wet - and a low clear river. Started at the bottom of the beat with a weighted nymph. 2 Grayling and a Trout reasonably quickly, but nothing else until I picked up a second Trout on a Klinkhammer just before packing up. Was somewhat surprised to meet two other anglers, who had moved from the top beat, as I was eating my lunch; as there did not appear to be any other bookings when I made my booking on Wednesday. Nay bother though; I had plenty of water to go at - with my somewhat meagre catch being down to the river, which had a distinctly "off" feel about it today. Of course, the thing at the blunt end of the rod may also have been at fault

Beautiful beat. Fishing was tough. A few small fish and a whopper of an OOS brownie.

Fished Sunday 11th October between about 10am and 4.30pm. Following rain on Friday the Ddol Farm gauge had risen to ~1.30m on Friday afternoon, but had dropped back to 0.70m today. The river was a little high, but clear and very fishable. It was a mild day, with only a light breeze. There was reasonable hatches of fly, especially in the faster water - small olives, some large olives and sedges. However, there was only the occasional fish rising. Mostly out of range.
We fished the top part of the beat.
We managed 14 grayling and 6 trout between us. Fairly steady throughout the day. All but one on small bead head nymphs fished under a dry dropper. The other was to the dry dropper. All the fish were a good size, between about 10" and 14".

3C on the car temperature gauge en route, but a pleasant enough day. River running low and clear, but still pushing through. Bottom incredibly slippery - so much so that, even with studded soles, I narrowly avoided meeting the fish on their own terms on a couple of occasions. A couple of Grayling on nymphs from the fast water at the top of the first meadow in the morning, nothing from the Gutter, but a run of Grayling from the top of the beat on a Klinkhammer during a brief rise in the afternoon

Beautiful beat, plenty of fish about. Wading staff a must!. Indicated footpath to the upper part of beat needs correcting….their seems to be no path to the river or along it on the left bank. Only access by the parking area and footbridge at the top of this beat. Once we did start fishing however, the pocket water and runs were productive. Lovely calm clear day; most fish on nymphs and some took drys amidst a hatch early afternoon.
