Oh dear, that's not a good result for this beat. conditions perfect weather perfect i know the beat well and have always caught plenty of grayling here, but not today !. Fished the bottom beat ( every inch of it ) 9 till 5 fished it well in my opinion but it seemed void of fish. Struggled at Buith yesterday as well but still managed half a dozen. I guess the river is just not on at the moment?

Lovely to spend time on this beat again as it has been a while. It was a lovely day for it, the river was looking perfect and the autumn colours were stunning. As usual, I spent the whole time working my way upstream through the bottom half of the beat. Nothing was rising so I fished nymphs. There were no signs of fish for the first three hours and then, just as I was starting to get a bit concerned about blanking, I managed to find some. All fish were about 14 inches and in perfect condition, falling for nymphs with a hint of pink in.

Next time I will try to explore the upper half of this beat.

Stunning conditions on the beat with the river in good flow and pushing a little bit of tint. Both relatively new anglers, the wading is certainly challenging in areas with deep holes and channels. 5 grayling to the net and a further 4 or 5 hits not converted. One small out of season trout. Best fish 16" and c1.5lb, two other great fish over a pound and two smaller 10-12".

A wonderful beat in full autumn splendour and one of our best days of the season.

First time on beat and lots to discover. Stayed on upper and middle section. Perhaps should have explored. Fish on both nymphs and dries. I'll be better prepared next time...

A beautiful day amongst the gradual emergence of autumnal colours. Very mild, with little wind and perfect water conditions. Quite a few fish rising throughout late morning/early afternoon which resulted in some excellent dry fly action. Lost a couple on the nymphs too, but this technique wasn’t as effective as it usually proves to be.
