River was low and clear….. and fish were not their usual co-operative selves! We fished right up the beat for 6 trout and 1 grayling – nothing too big. The grayling really don’t seem to have got going yet, pretty well conspicuous by their absence. Mrs Otter paid us a visit last knockings – and am afraid the dreaded knotweed is back, will send an email with location for the habitat team. But still a wonderful beat to be on.

A picturesque beat but access is difficult in places . during the afternoon a canoe scraped through the water which obviously did not improve the fishing . I feel that reasoning with these people is a waste of time action is needed . However , the landing of a beautiful brownie early evening lifted the spirits . the fish was well over 2 lb . All fish returned alive .

2 Grayling caught and returned - 1 (about 1 lb) early in the day and 2 (bigger fish - nearer 2 lbs) late in the day. Both on small nymphs - 1 olive and 1 pheasant tail.
Conditions were very good. Water level was ok. Nice warm day with light cloud. Lovely stretch of water.

Beautiful stretch of river. The wading was difficult at low water, cannot imagine what it would be like with any sort of flow. Very few fish seen rising.

Cold and cloudy. River level very low . Tried wet flies and nymphs. Some good tugs but no trout caught. Beautiful beat and despite nothing much happening, I had a good day immersed in nature.

Fish sadly not very cooperative today.
Saw one rise all day (which I could not get to come again) and Klink and dink and Deep nymph no joy either. But a lovely beat and The river very clear - to the extent that sight fishing would even have been possible if there has been a bit more sun.
Nb a word for the keen euro nympher: when they say felt soles and studs recommended here for wading they really mean it. I would not even think about trying to nymph here without them. On some of the wye and usk grayling beats you can get away without them - but not here.
