Nothing moving all afternoon but hooked a couple around 5 and landed one. Too small to keep. Took a little brown nymph drifting across the current at bottom of the beat

Quite a chilly day with a d/s wind. Water had a nice tint but was pushing through a bit which made the wading even harder than the last time I fished here!
Didn't get a touch before midday but the fish switched on after that before I stopped at 3.
Didn't see any fish rising so just upstreamed a nymph - biggest trout 11" and biggest grayling around a pound.
The other was a salmon parr about 6".

Fished from 11 to 2pm on the upper beat, ystrad side where I caught the 3 trout (2 x 1/2 lb and 1 x 1lb), then 2:30 to 5:30pm on the lower beat catching none. I was using beaded nymphs all day but did see a couple of rises. The water was very clear. Only the second time I'd used waders and found it very challenging as it warned on the website with rocks very slippy. Need to buy a wading staff I think! Lovely day though and hope to return.

Arrived de bonne heure to find a higher and faster flowing river than I was expecting - rain in Welsh Wales or, more likely, water from the dams? Started on the bottom beat, with two Grayling on pretty much my first two casts cause for optimism; but I was not to touch another fish until the afternoon. It could have been the thing at the blunt end of the rod I suppose, but there was a nasty downstream wind, and the river was really pushing through at that stage

Top beat in the afternoon for a couple more Grayling and a run of Trout, before picking up four more Grayling PDQ from just below the Suspension Bridge (from a run I usually fish but, if memory swerves, I have never caught from before) just before calling it a day. Quality over quantity today; while the Trout were on the small side, the Grayling were mostly the sort of fish my old mate Tom Dixon would call "about a pound". Most of the fish on a tungsten Endrick Spider, with a couple of rising fish taking a Klinkhammer

A bit like Joe Alexander the other day, I was startled by a large Eel more of less swimming through my legs while I was waist deep in mid river. While I am fearless when it comes to Pike, there is something about Eels that un-nerves me, so much so that, for the rest of the day, I spent as much time looking down as looking up

Fished from 9am till 12.30pm ,Finished early as wind and rain came along so retired to the New inn at Newbridge on Wye for a Beer. Oh well every cloud has a silver lining.
Fishing was great fun as you would expect from this beat, I must have mised 6 or 7 takes ,got 4 to the net,3 around 8" and one 12-14" all safely released. 3mm PTN done the trick i found the 3.5mm dragging No droppers to windy for my skill set.

Lovely peaceful beat although a bit tricky wading .This time i didn't fall in but came close to it on a couple of occasions. ( after lunch with a couple of beers funny enough!!)water level 0.43m at Ddol Farm. All fish caught on heavy nymph in deeper channels 3 larger grayling ,trout would all have been under 8" .Given the hot day and bright sun i had a lot better day than i was expecting, all in all great fun.
