First time on the Taff , started at section 19 on the beat and worked our way up stream fishing the small pocket water . Rivers in need of some fresh rain badly .
Still managed to winkle out a few nice fish on the nymphs . Really interesting river , loads of different features , will definitely return next season .

River conditions: Summer level, clear. Method: Upstream nymphing, lovely dark/brown olive hatch but no trout rising unfortunately. All fish returned

Resorted to nymphing after an unproductive day last week. 5 trout landed on PTN over a fair distance starting at the hump-back bridge. Fished from 8am to 12, diverse but sparse insect life, no rises seen. Studs recommended, quite slippery at the moment.

Two trout to the net, one below a pound in weight the other above. Missed another 3 risers and spooked another two.

Only had the evening to cover the Edwardsville curve. It was sunny and the water levels were low so the fish were in the back deep pools on the foam lines with seemingly slow surface flow.

The fish responded well to a size 18 caddis/olive klinkhmmer 6x tippet with some time to inspect it before rising to it.

Lots of kingfishers, greywagtails and dippers with caddis swarms above the water and black stoneflies dancing.

Two fishing rising and luckily managed to net one which turned out to be a fine 2lb wild brownie which was swiftly released. Caught on a yellow mayfly pattern.

If it wasn't for this fish it would have been a very tough day out trying to find the fish. There are lots of deep pools and sections which scream fish but few were revealing themselves.

Was so disappointing the first day we did not return. It is not rural fishing, nor idyllic.

I prefer to catch trout, not shopping trollies.
