Fished from 1 pm till 7. My fishing mate A W from Ledbury was gardening so no show!!. went through the ripples to start with using a small nymph ,nothing. Rivers very low, saw a few rising about 5 pm. Very interesting as could see them popping up from tight under the rocks to the surface but not interested in anything i had in my box. Had some liquid refreshment and tried the ripples again with a pop up emerger that done the trick. An enjoyable afternoon.

Fished 15.00 to 19.00. Periods of torrential showers and strong downstream wind probably suppressed surface activity but managed to winkle out a couple of great brown trout by searching riffles and seams with an olive comparadun. Would have stayed later to see if a late evening hatch occurred but weather conditions were unhelpful. Enjoyable session nevertheless.

River very low and little chance of a salmon but nice to put out a line.
Wild brownies made the day however. 4 lost a 2 missed during the afternoon before an excellent evening rise with lots of fish accumulating just off the quicker water in the Cynrig Pool for the last 90 minutes of the day. Landed 5 (all returned), lost 2 and missed many more. Fabulous quality fish, hard fighting, electic rises and takes. Most coming to a CDC buzzer. A lovely, peaceful and private beat. Looking forward to seeing it again someday when there's water on

Cloudy morning with cold wind. Waterlevel low, one small trout on nymph. The weather improved in the afternoon, perfect evening. I caught another five trout up to 35 cm on small emerger patterns.

I’d been looking forward to fishing this beat again for few years now but unfortunately left disappointed. The weather was bright warm and sunny but I haven’t found this to be a problem in the past. The river however was very low with little flow in places. It also had an unhealthy looking tinge of colour and any river bed not exposed to a significant flow was covered in a brown, slippery algae/sludge. At this time of year the river should be alive with insects and the air filled swifts, swallows and Martins but the insects, particularly the aquatic varieties were conspicuous by their absence, as were the birds. Very few fish were rising, I managed to catch one small trout on a dry fly and missed 6 other takes, I blame this on the fact I could find no rising fish to cast to so was prospecting, casting where I thought fish might be and getting fast, unexpected takes which I missed!
When I’d walked to the pool I’d intended to fish I found a group of young men sitting on the grass on the far bank, they then proceeded to take off their shoes and socks and get into the best pool on the beat.
In all a frustrating and saddening day on the river.
