Beautiful March day, warm and sunny after a very wet number of weeks. First trip to the Usk.
Four trout hooked on tight line nymphs but only three landed, best 14".
The one and only fish I found rising fell to a retirer sedge. Muted hatch of March browns and BWO.

Started fishing dry olive patterns at the top of the beat above the bridge at around 8am. Cloudy muggy weather. Several fish rising and one took my fly but I failed to connect. By 9am rises had petered out and rain started. Fished down the whole of the rest of the beat through the day in the pouring rain. Did not see another rise or connect with anything all day. Lovely beat and fun day albeit very soggy!

Beat in bad shape but still fishing okay. Low water and a thick layer of algae/sludge made wading in even 6 inches of water pretty unstable. Fish caught all through the beat in a few hours in the afternoon before everything switched off as the late evening came. Tiny olives worked as did cul de canons in 16. Fish that were rising smashed the flies, most of the time sporadic rises were sippers and the glassy low water made catching these tricky.

River looked good and weather fair. Little surface activity and one small trout on spider. Enjoyable day at a lovely beat.

Lovely beat
Some fish rising around 11am but sadly below where I was fishing. Another jumped out in front of me while having my lunch!!
Not a huge amount of insect life. Finished the day fishing quite a way below the house where there were some rising but again not very many. One launched itself out of the water after a parachute adams but didn’t actually take the fly
Alas nothing for me today but would highly recommend fishing here
