After a few disappointing trips to the Irfon this autumn I decided to give the main Wye a go. It is some years since I visited this beat and it is as lovely as I remembered it. Starting in the Ciliau Run, I fished a duo with a gold bead GRHE and Klinkhammer with the nymph taking the fish initially. As the day wore on they showed a preference for the dry fly and I caught six grayling up to a pound in weight plus one fit 10” brownie. I finished up at the mouth of the Clettwr and picked up a couple there. I broke on the strike a couple of times and missed many others. All in all a very good day’s sport with the river in good form.

Great booking service again. We arrived to a dull windy day, water a lot colder now and lots of leaves. Fished for about 5 hours, sun came later and wind dropped. Had several takes and two nice Grayling followed by a 12 inch Trout, all returned unharmed.
Little scruffy wet flies with a touch of colour worked again here, had a wonderful day.
Parking excellent and river access fine.
Thank you

River at good height, slightly coloured. Excellent conditions for fly fishing for salmon. Unfortunately none caught but did see one fish in the Bathing pool.

First time we have fished here.
River was very high and coloured, we fished this beat again on the following Monday and only then realised there was planks out in the river you could fish from!

Overnight rain put a nice tinge of colour into the river, and the fish enjoyed it as well! Had 4 fish in the first 6 casts and I`ve never even been here before! Spent quite a bit of the day exploring the beat and sheltering from the torrential rain all afternoon. Had 9 grayling 10-14 inch and 9 trout to 9 inches, all on klink and dink. Had to give up ealier than wanted due to the stream at the top of the beat pouring in very dirty water and colouring up my side of the river!

A dark, misty and quite breezy day and cooler than of late, at 15 degrees. Very little fly apart from a few small afternoon olives and consequently, with little leaf litter and associated bugs, very few rising fish. Fished duo most of the day and did a bit of bugging as well (but to no avail). Two grayling and one trout (12") taken on small tung-head GRHE and PT nymphs and the rest of the fish, bar one, taken on HE emergers - the other on a small dark olive Duck's Dun. Most of the fish taken on the emergers were non-risers. Two grayling of 14" but the rest mainly around 10". Very hard fishing for sure. Bring on the rain and leaf fall to liven things up a bit!
