A beautiful Spring day and mostly warm, but the water was very cold at 5 degrees. A trickle hatch of LDOs brought one or two fish up resulting in one caught and one lost.

A slow start in the morning at the top of the beat but things changed dramatically in the afternoon once I had crossed the river at the bend and fished down.
There was a small but steady hatch of small olives most of the afternoon which the trout responded to,sub-surface emergers, spiders and nymphs all taking fish. Sport was non stop for a couple of hours in cool and drizzley conditions.
Quite a special autumn day’s fishing, not because of the size of fish to hand, only 2 or 3 making 12” but rather because of the sheer number of takers over a prolonged period, and there were no parr in the total.
All quickly returned as usual with many more misses and on-offs.

Started fishing at 17:30. Fished until dark.

Large and varied hatch starting around 18:45 had the fish moving. Selective on dry flies but more willing on emergers/light nymphs.

All fish taken were between 15-30cm.
