Parked in the layby on the A465 and made my way upstream. Weather cloudy with sunny intervals and a very annoying downstream wind. Tried nymph in the fast riffles at the bottom of the beat with one take that I didn't make contact with. Changed to dry when a large hatch started around 11am, but for some reason this season I can't make good contact with the fish. Dozens of takes but only one 12 inch fish landed.
Although there were people walking on the far bank I wasn't bothered, and the dog walkers respectfully kept their dogs out of the water once they spotted me.

Only there for 3 hrs to finish off the weekend visit to the Usk. Fished new Zealand style, downstream and Czech nymphing. Didn't get a bite but saw a couple of rises.

Really tough, a few fish rising to dry flies throughout the day. Managed one on a foam dun, and lost a couple on a hawthorn pattern. Stalked a decent fish in the margins on a streamer however, shook the hook. Will be back later this season.
