Great morning on a great beat till families started showing up and swimming in the deeper pools but tbh I was done by then and who am I to deny them a swim on a warm day. Seen at least 15 - 20 rises is various areas but tucked way underneath low hanging branches. Found a nice deep pool with good rises every 2-3 mins so offered them a size 20 parachute Adams and got two 8-10” brownies then another later on with the same fly.

Absolute waste of time and money.
Barely any water. such small shallow pools no fish could have sustained itself in there.
So packed up and went to High Conniscliffe before lunch.

River was very low and strong downstream wind made casting very difficult. Only managed to rise four fish, and only landed one.

Dry fly on dropper, small tungsten bead nymph on point.
Strong downstream wind with bright sunshine and very low, clear water, so challenging fishing. In the circumstances I was pleased to come away with anything and certainly didn't mind they were all on the small side. I missed a couple of takes too. I'll be back when there's a bit more water.

Didn’t end up fishing. The wind was atrocious. I might have given it a go if I had seen a fish.

Anther great day on a lovely river. Fish are very fast risers, so good reflexes are required. Ten trout caught between 6-12 inches, all on dry flies.

A strong downstream wind made casting tricky. Not many fish rising, but they were happy to come up for a small dry fly. All fish caught on olive emerger patterns. Another great day on this lovely stream.

A great couple of hours fishing for extremely fast rising wild brown trout in a lovely setting. Managed to land four fish, all about 9 inches, and lost another four when they shed the hook. All caught on black klinkhammer or small F Fly.
