Wonderful day. Not much action but recent rain helped a little. Able to wade (carefully) across river to the Bridge Pool. Just two fish at the tail ends of the Ashford Bend and Beech Pool, on a Coch y bondhu and a Black and Peacock. Lost two lovely fish in the same spots.

Sporadic hatches of March Brown in the middle of the day but failed to rise any fish to the dry fly. Occasional fish moving at the surface. 2 fish on wet flies (March Brown spider and Black Hopper) and 2 on gold head PTN. All fish returned. Plenty of wildlife including grey wagtail, dipper, common sandpiper and brief view of an otter. Himalayan Balsam seedlings starting to appear and were removed.

Warm bright day, water clear enough to sight-fish in places - and some big fish were visible. Surprisingly several came up for the Jingler in the sparse 12-2pm hatch, but I missed or lost all but two, of 14 and 15 inches, strong as ever.

Very difficult. Bright sun, clear water, few rises. But stunning with lots of wildlife.

Sunny day, light east wind, river low-ish and clear. There was a fair on-and-off hatch of mid olives (rather than March browns?) between 12 and 2pm, which produced quite a few rises. Caught 3 fish on the (dry) Jingler (14), the largest of which, 18 inches/2.5 lbs, was in a stream right under the far bank and very strong, jumping no less than six times. A bit of success with klink-and-dink (on a 14 PTN) after the hatch.
