A sunny day with good hatches throughout but I didn't see a single rise. After a couple of hours swinging wets I moved to using streamers which proved to be very effective. The trout wanted a fry imitation moving extremely fast. Once I'd cracked the code I caught some great trout of about 1.5 pounds and upwards. The largest was about three pounds. I also caught one chubb.

Chose the top car park and walked up to the downstream end of the beat, trying to find the courage to get in. The water was getting close to chocolate and the sides were steep, so I couldn't work out if I was going to be sliding into a hole or have safe footing. A return either when it is clearer or with someone who knows the beat would be the way to go. On the plus side, one 10" fish took an orange spider tied Tenkara style as per PAul Gaskell/ John Pearson's book.

River was quite high and discoloured. No sign of moving fish. Managed one 8" fish whilst euro nymphing. Not sure who was more surprised.

Great day fishing the usk lost one fish whilst talking instead of concentrating. No hatches to speak of and despite the warm weather no rising fish seen all day. The river itself has suffered a poor winter and is obviously recovering will be back again

2 browns of about 10 and 13 inches. Lost a small fish on the dry and another very solid fish just before netting. Water 12 degrees. Lots caddis coming off in the evening. Few dark olives seen late afternoon. Fishing was slow going. Fish still seem to be in slower deep water.

First time on the town water beat. Plenty of water to go at but a horrible strong cold north wind made fishing challenging today. Still managed a couple of trout, the biggest about 1lb on a nymph, the smaller fish on a sedge.
