Another amazing day at Holme Lacy I think this must be the most prolific chub fishery on the Wye,started fishing at 6-30 and packed up at 12-00 midday.Chub first cast then continuous bites until I left all fish in the 3lb - 4lb bracket with 3 at 5lb 6oz 5lb 9oz and 5lb 12oz and the largest at 6lb 2oz groundbait feeder with pellet and hemp and meat on the hook.

Early morning session due to extreme heat started at 5am water temp 21 deg chub first cast then pretty much constant bites until I finished at 11-30,chub ranged from approximately 3lb up to 5lb 8oz groundbait feeder with pellet and hemp and meat on the hook accounted for all of the fish. The path to the far end of the fishery is very overgrown with brambles protruding across many places and could possibly do with a strim to make access less hazardous.

All fish on trotted meat. Not sure if it's me I remember this beat as an easy walk over open banks. Not now. A narrow and somewhat overgrown path which seemed to finish two thirds down. Bottom section of the beat not really accessible other than wading with all your gear.
Still a lovely place and a cracking day's fishing

Breezy and sunny today, water temperature 22 deg C. We headed for the island stretch and almost immediately started catching chub. Also two barbel one 7lb 4oz, the other around 4.5lb.
We caught on GB feeder, straight lead, float and rolling meat. Pellets, luncheon meat, boilies and sweetcorn all worked as the chub from 1.5lb to 4.3lb gave themselves up. At 6pm we moved to 3 upstream swims but only caught three chub in 3 hours.
A great day on a very picturesque beat!

River and weather conditions looked perfect for some float fishing and I wasn't disappointed. A very good average size at around 3 to 4lb with half a dozen closer to 5lb. All fish unhooked in the river and didn't use my landing net once . Thanks to WUF and Colin .
