A very warm bright day. Hacked my way around the beat and fished to rising fish. Thought the fishing would improve as the day went on but it was slow all day. The rises seemed sporadic and infrequent. Caught two on emergers, both around 3/4lb and hard fighting. I have fished this beat over recent years and it has become tougher. It is nevertheless a lovely peaceful spot.

Two nice size brown trout both caught on dry flies. Grey wolf and coachman. I missed two other trout too.
I was greeted by the owner of the recording studio and he informed me with directions to the river and some info on the banks falling away due to a flooding in the past which makes access difficult.

Access to the river is very difficult. Ropes needed, but not present. Floods have eroded the banks. Very few fish rising - perhaps 4 all morning. River seemed in very poor condition with pinkish sludge over the bottom. Two of us fished all morning without a take.

Beautiful beat with a variety of slow/ fast and shallow/ deep water. Unfortunately there seemed to be very few fish with only one fish showing itself all day in what seemed, by experience, excellent conditions. No luck or signs of fish with nymphs through the deeper water either. Disappointing.

Had a fish come off early in the day, and had repeated interest from a very nice fish in a deeper pool. Other than that no other activity seen all day, no rises whatsoever despite good insect life. Water low and clear, very cold still. Stunning location and great day fishing despite 2x dry nets!
