Saw some, moved a few, connected with 3, landed 1!
Nice WBT of about half a pound. We only fished dry and focused on the runs and riffles. The top end of the best being more active than the bottom. Tough fishing for sure

This is the first time on this river, the access points to the river are very well marked with posts the upper part of the beat has areas of faster flowing water with pools so with a good hatch there should be lots of sport, one trout caught on a March brown nymph.
the water was very clear and although there was a half descent hatch the fish din not react with only two coming to the surface for a very short time this is wild fishing and it is not easy a river I will go back to, a 7 - 8 foot rod is probably the max length required

Beat:Monnow Valley

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:2

A cold day! The lower section of the beat was un fishable, no access no way down to the water and too deep & fast for safety. We decided to look at the upper section after a tea & sandwich and were rewarded with a fish each of 1-1.25LB.

The storms have caused havoc with the banks trees down, and debris everywhere.

Water was a bit darker and noticeably cooler after the rain on Friday which gave me my first brown trout which made my day.

The passport was so simple to use. It was my first time fly fishing on a river so probably made plenty of mistakes hence the zero catch but throughly enjoy the tranquility of a beautiful river directions we’re very simple to follow
I will be going again
Many thanks

Great day of jungle fishing! The beat is VERY overgrown and access to the river bed can be difficult.
I saw 2 fish rising, missed one and got a 12in brownie on the dry.
