I could only get there after 5pm and found the water a bit murky after the rain of the last 24 hours, decided to therefore try some brighter patterns but soon changed to dry flies as I noticed fish surface feeding. After 8pm the fish really started feeding in a frenzy and would bite at anything I floated past them. This was most productive in the slower moving pools which were about 2 foot deep. I left at 9pm but the fish were still at it.

2 Out of season Grayling returned- one about 12" and one about 8". Both in the faster water up from the recording studio. Saw 2 trout rising under trees (caterpillars ?) but otherwise nothing. Maybe the stormy weather in the previous 2 days or maybe me stamping about in the river.
Easy to find and to park (there is even a sign!) . What rods need to know is that you have to access some of the water through the studio's garden and that access points are marked by yellow posts. Make sure you have plenty of tippet handy for replacements as these trees are angry! To be fair, willow is quite forgiving when it comes to recovering your hairy projectiles.
I didn't see ladders or hand rails as mentioned in the notes, however, I didn't cover the whole beat. NB if volunteers are needed to clear some of the entry/exit points I can rouse a couple of willing folk. Fun day on the river!

Lovely beat but challenging fishing with no fish rising. Lost one and landed two grayling nymphing in faster water.

What a lovely stretch. Levels were low and all fish came from the fast, shallow runs. Some big grayling over 1lb and 2 nice trout (2lb). If you're wading - and you'll need to - a wading staff is a must. The amount of bankside vegetation is daunting at first but access points have been cut out. If you can get in (depending on levels) you can work your way from there. Access is easier the further up you go. Sunshine, quality fish, what a lovely day to be out. Most fish on a small red collar jig nymph dropper.

A fairly continuous rise of olives and mayflies until the temperature dropped in the early evening, rises were few and far between though. The river was low but weather conditions were good so we were a tad disappointed with our two fish, the best of which was 10 inches. One of the party hooked a sizeable fish which bore down to the depths and snapped him in some tree roots leading him to believe it could well have been a chub! All fish taken on dries.

A pretty beat that would benefit from a bit of a trim!
