Very interesting day at MHC….Only 2 Rods fished from 10.30 AM to 6.30 PM…One caught 20 Barbel with not a single Chub and the other Rod fishing a couple of hundred yards away struggled for just 2 Chub….River was in great shape and the Barbel were all quality fish averaging around 6lb.

Another wonderful day on this amazing beat , today chose to get my waders on and ‘Roll ‘ some baits about in the shallows with my new Adcock Stanton Centrepin much to the expense of my Barbel fishing , it’s been 2 years since standing in the Wye with a Rod in my hand and the Romance of that and being in the shadow of Goodrich Castle sadly diminished my Barbel chances ,2 or 3 of the Chub were around 3lb , mainly on meat , didn’t see a soul accept gamekeeper , but other Anglers I could see in distance occupied the deeper more Barbel productive swims from my experience so their catches will be interesting !
All in all an awesome day , river at a great level and cracking colour on it , thanks as always Wye and Usk , this beat has it all !!

A new lovely beat for us with plenty of accessible swims.
As one of us was carrying an injury we only fished together in one swim but court well on the leger with pellets

River was spot on coloured and running off but not high moved swims a few times using meat early on and switched to pellet afternoon and trotted with maggots others dace and eel

2 Trout, 20 Barbel, 26 Chub, 7 Other

We were on the water at first light and had 2 good barbel in the net early. However the river level rose rapidly from 17 cm to 82 cm in 5 hours from about 7.30. By 11.00 it was virtually impossible to fish - not due to the water level but the amount of weed and debris being flushed down. We packed up at about 12.30 somewhat disappointed.

River came up fast with lots of debris however we managed to catch the fish fishing the slacks

Caught barbel and chub from several swims on the full length, pellet and feeder were our tactics

Some swims very slow but we found a couple of good ones. All fish caught on feeder and boilie Very mild, river low but slowly rising Conditions seemed ideal apart from a couple of lengthy showers.

5 Barbel, 6 Chub

Spent the morning trotting but was hard work, with 1 small Barbel and a few Chub.
Changed to light legering / trundling in the afternoon and things really kicked off, all Barbel except first 5 to 7lb , the Chub gemerally 3 to 3 and a half with a few bigger and a few smaller
