After realising that the weather conditions of sleet and freezing temperatures would make it a most unpleasant day we decided to travel the long distance back home instead of fishing. A good decision as the rain and sleet continued all day.

After a good day yesterday same beat, today the weather turned against us with heavy snow so we decide the risk not worth it and decided not to fish. Will back in the summer !

Nice beat, and Stefan the bayliff has done a nice job creating decent access to several swims (as the water level is very low you need to get 10-15 feet down the bank). With cold water temperature and very clear water, I was just hoping to avoid a blank. Focused on the few deeper, slower swims, including one which Stefan had pre-baited that morning (lucky for me). Ended up with 3 chub, the largest going 5lb 3oz, and 2 barbel at 6lb 12oz and a new PB of 9lb 10oz. All fish caught on feeder tactics with meat on the hair. Enjoyed watching the swans, ducks, a kingfisher and a double figure pike sitting just in front of me monitoring the chub activity closely. Great day as always on the Wye, thanks WUF.

I booked this at the start of the mild spell when the forecast for this weekend was better than what materialised. However with a water temp of 5.5 I was hopeful of avoiding a blank with a stretched target of 4 chub. In the end I had 4 down the bottom on the float and 2 up the top on the feeder, all between 3 and 4lb, along with a little feisty trout for a satisfying winter day on the river.

Water was low and clear. No luck targeting the pike so switched over to trotting some maggots which produced two lovely chub of over 2lbs each.

Disappointed to learn from the bailiff that this is in fact not double bank fishing. Consensus seems to be that the pike fishing has been very tough for a number of years.

Fishing Passport Note : Middle Hill Court is a double bank fishery. Whilst access is restricted to left bank only, mentioning double bank will give anglers the information that no-one will be fishing opposite.
