6 OOS Grayling caught nymphing. A blustery sunny day, no rises, river low and clear. A great beat, goood access and easy wading. KM Hereford.

6 Grayling

The weather was certainly better than the day before at Penpont still a bit of a breeze but not to much of an issue down on the river bed. Very sunny so that took the chill off.

First time back here for a few years , and it seems a lot less of the beat is accessible. A lot of severe bank erosion on the rh side in the middle section, where I thought discretion was the better part of valour, and the left hand is very overgrown in places.

Beautiful day but no fish, no hatch and no visible activity.

Two tugs all day. Nothing to hand. Good chat with a fellow angler. Lovely stretch of water

The river seem in good health but a few dogs in the water as there is a popular foot path nearby. Lots of fly activity but no rises for the time I was there 11 to 3.

River was perfect, but the wind was cold and got stronger as the day wore on, knocked it on the head around 3.00pm as it was almost impossible to cast.

Loads of wildlife and what appeared to be two small lampreys in the shallows.

We met the land owner who's field you walk through to access the river, apparently people are not making sure the gate is locked when entering/leaving. Yes, it is a bit difficult, but not impossible to close and get the bolt into the post. Please make sure you close and make sure the bolt is home!

Very quiet day - didn't see a rise and only a handful of insects.
