Lovely day, water is low talking with a gentleman clearing the banks he reckons well over a meter below it’s normal level, I struggled with nymphs catching the bottom. A few rises through out the day and the three fish falling to dry flies.

Solid rain. Nothing rising to the surface. And they weren't interested in my nymphs.
Mr Johnson's antics mercifully ensured that I only got quizzical looks from my family, rather than a full-on interrogation over whether the afternoon had provided value for money, when I returned home soggy that evening.

3 nice grayling early on and then the sun came out along with all the families and dogs. That killed the fishing dead as they were either throwing sticks in the river for the dogs or swimming themselves.

The bottom part of the beat always seems to yield the best results these days though I'm not sure why that should be?? A beautiful evening on a beautiful river. Having caught a trout on a little grey parachute at the bottom end I made a point of moving up through the entire beat. Water levels are better compared to this time last year but not much in the way of insect life and little sign of feeding fish. No discernible evening rise at all.

Conditions were bright, warm and sunny. There was a little more water in the river than the last time we fished which was the same time last year. Still, the fishing was really hard going with very little in the way of rising fish. All fish caught were cast to and caught on either cdc emerger, parachutes or sedge. No discernible evening rise even though there was plenty of insect life to be seen.

Very little action during the day. Except for one pool where I caught one 4" trout and lost another.
Later in the evening, there was a good hatch of several upwing species. Trout were splashy takes with a small mayfly imitation. I had a few missed takes from fish which then spooked the pool for a few minutes. I used a Humpy early on and a small Grey Wulff later. The chub (and I lost a few) were supping, taking emergers. The later it got the more fished that showed, peaking about 8:15pm.
All in all a good day with low water.
