An absolutely beautiful, clear frosty morning. Water levels perfect as well but not a fish in the net today. Arrived about 10 or so and was probably fishing around 10:30 - 3:30. Plumbed the likely holes with nymphs and had a few knocks but no fish to the net today. Good luck and enjoy. Think I shall next get to the upper Wye and perhaps find some fish in a bit better numbers.

Mixed day of weather on a fairly swollen, muddy river. Chest waders mandatory, particularly for bottom section. Variety of nymphs used with no success. Pretty spot and generally good access.

Had a great stay at the Bell Inn. Caught no fish but enjoyed the beautiful afternoon.

4 x baby grayling of about 6 inches, 2 x out of season trout 8 and 12 inches, nymphing. The larger trout looked like a Tregate Anglers stock fish left over from the summer. Not a very productive day, but a pretty place to spend it in.

I had a most enjoyable lunch at The Bell. The food was excellent and the service was very hospitable. The meal aside, I fished the beat before and after lunch. It was cold, windy, and occasionally rainy. I tried a variety of tactics, but all to no avail. I can give no evidence that there was a single grayling in residence, or any other aquatic life for that matter. That said, it was a beautiful stretch of river and I will definitely return. However, I might wait for the trout season.

Another blank day. Will now give grayling a miss this season.

Beautiful day to give my first try at grayling. Mrs. C even said "you haven't been fishing in a while". Didn't have to ask me twice, so headed to the Monnow. Try as I might, didn't have a touch today. Will return with some proper grayling bugs and hopefully some more knowledge. River had some colour, but was clearing and dropped about 2 inches when I was there. A very small hatch at 2:30 wasn't really enough to stir up any risers. Still beats working. Thanks WUF.

No Grayling, however lots of coarse fish (mainly dace). Good day and managed to beat the rain.

River the lowest I have ever seen it. A blank day. Waded the beat in chest waders. It was still a good day out. Will now await the rain before I visit again.

Low water - in need of rain. Good sport with small fish/trout. 2 x small brown trout caught.
