Early start on river for 7 30am . It looked like there had been a lift of two inches or so. The rock pool looked very inviting so we fished this first. I went down it first with the fly nothing to show . Then I spun it nothing doing. We then moved to the mill run, I was second down after Ian , Bang what a gentle take then the fish woke up, good fight, 16lb freshish, went back strongly. Fished the Rectory pool its self but could not catch another fish. One is better than none.

Arrived at the river at 7 30 with BS, river looked in good nick and a tad higher. Brian fished the fly down first with me second but nothing , we then got the spinning rods out, I went right up the to the rapids at the top of the pool 4th cast and bang, yes I thought first fish of the year, sadly not to be but a great looking Chub and at 4lb was looking good.
We moved down to the Mill run, I went first this time fished an Alley shrimp with nothing touched. Brian came down with a single Usk Grub and bang, into a 16 lb lovely fish. I was gutted. We let the pool settle before I went back up to the top of the run and started to spin with a small rappala. Same place that Brian had his fish and BANG it was a salmon this time, 20lb of pure Wye muscle, returned strong. Fished the Rectory pool with no luck but the one fish will do me.
