Fished bottom of beat with nymphs, have done well here before but just a couple of takes and didn't connect with anything. No rises seen.

This beat is very difficult to enter the water when the river is up. The right bank which is most of the beat is overgrown and in places blocked by fallen trees. Tried to fish from the bank no joy.
0 return. I think the landowner needs to do a little bit of gardening, not impressed.

1' 5" and dropping, still coloured though. No fish seen and none caught.

11" on the gauge, clear water, overcast in the morning, brighter in the afternoon. Couple of grilse showing in the Stepping Stones early on but no offers.
First time on the beat. Along with studded soled waders and a wading stick (absolute essentials on this beat) the ability to Spey cast is pretty necessary too (not something I'm great at!). The walk up to the top of the beat along the bank is pretty hard going too, all in all a pretty challenging beat.
Looking forward to trying some other beats through the WUF.

Nice day with a couple of good grayling. Most grayling came to the dry fly in fast runs.

Just a couple of very small trout and a grayling on all types of nymphs tried all day - must be losing my touch!

Couple of small brownies on nymphs, both returned.

Caught 4 brown trout using mayfly imitation kept 2.All caught between Lower Caban and Island Stream in fairly fast water. Day was overcast and fishing was very enjoyable.
