After a slow start, caught fish most of the day on Tungsten patterns and a few good grayling up in the water but it dropped right off in the afternoon. Still caught a few but not in the same numbers. A lovely stretch of river, well looked after and a joy to fish. Biggest fish of the day being a grayling about 1 and a half pounds.

First time on Gromain and it is a beautiful place. Heard the warnings of deadly wading which meant I acted with caution, but even with a bit of water coming through and a bit of a hangover found it OK! Clearly an excellent salmon beat, there are a lot of trout and grayling here too. Caught fish everywhere, actually stopping fishing in a couple of areas where I was getting constant fish around the 6-10 inches mark. Best fish of the day being a 1 and a half pound Grayling. All on deep fished Heavy Nymphs.

Lovely afternoon in a very scenic stretch of the Wye. Caught nothing, but that was as much my bad fishing as anything!

Small trout and grayling on nymphs/spiders. A good chub on a streamer.

A very pleasant afternoon. 4 small trout and 1 of 12". Also caught no end of salmon parr (one on every cast in some spots!) which is a very encouraging sign for the future.

In addition several salmon parr were caught. All fish were in excellent condition.

J wanted to learn some methods and rigs for taking fish from deep fast flowing channels which would not produce fish normally. A skill set that would come in useful if fishing in New Zealand /USA etc. 2 trout to 3/4lbs and 2 more to the river all returned.

1 trout around a pound and a number of small fish, all caught on a size 10 Cascade salmon fly. No sign of any salmon.
