Ps had 43 chub and a very brave dace, BJ had the rest. Fished the afternoon from 1-7 mostly on the float. Lovely day

Difficult. Very few places where river was accessible. Finally found path down to a croy after about a half mile trek. Wasn't really suitable for two anglers, but was pretty much all that was on offer. Blanket weed made any kind of ledgering difficult, and so it was a case of wading and trotting. One nice Chub (near 4lb) and a small Dace landed. Large number of anglers on opposite bank (Aramstone?) also rather limited the water available. The pegs on that side were numerous and well maintained. This was by far and away the most limited Wye and Usk stretch I've fished. Wouldn't recommend to anyone with mobility issues and/or carrying more than a minimal amount of gear. Rather disappointing.

Very low water which surprised me because of the rain we had recently. No fish showing but did see one from the bridge before I started fishing. Tough day not helped by two paddle boarders who proceeded to go swimming in every available bit of deep water back up to the bridge. Add in the joy of tripping over a sunken nylon rope strung across the river under the surface causing a headfirst ducking not a great day! Spent three hours but most of that was spent watching idiots on boards ruining any chances and cutting rope and drying out.
Won’t be returning for a while!!

Second time fishing here and did better than my first trip probably because of the previous days rain which added a bit of depth and flow. Water was still very clear though.
Couple of hours on the lower beat to begin... 5 trout between 6-10" all on nymphs. The force of the water was quite powerful along there and the fish I caught were in the slacker water.
Then a few hours on the upper beat that was much easier to fish. 3 trout on a nymph between 8-12". Also lost a bigger one c.14" at the net.
Very little rising but had 2 grayling on a dry both well over a pound off the same spot. Lost another one further downstream of a similar size too.

More of a trip of exploration than fishing today.
Only fished one swim for an hour. Very shallow at the moment so no fish.

Something of a wasted journey unfortunately. The heavy rain we had in South Wales the day before evidently hadn't reached Mid Wales. The river was very, very low. We persevered for an hour or so before calling it a day. We did spot a few good-sized trout which spooked when we got anywhere near the deeper pools, so the fish are there! Hope to come back after some rain as it's a stunning beat with lots of bird and insect life evident.
