Looking at the weather forecast we suspected a nice day … and so it came to pass . Prolonged periods of sunshine showed the river at its best … it is low, but the bed is cleaner than it has been all season.

A few fish were rising and prepared to come to a fly … as were many others who were not seen rising! 24 grayling to hand , mostly 7-9 inchers but a few up to 15 inches. All on dries - we both fished the same fly all day, no need to change. Wonderful fishing.

The wildlife was good too …. Buzzards kites egret heron and deer seen. That’s it for us now for this year, looking at the forecast for next week high water will return, hopefully to get the salmon and trout safely upstream. Thanks for another great seasons fishing.

After initial mists cleared a beautiful, sharp autumn day on the river. Temperature gradually increased to in the sun and a very sparse hatch provoked some Grayling to rise. No matter, fishing nymph or dry, nothing came to hand.

27 chub throughout the day. No barbel but a bright sunny day and low temperature hardly surprising

Blanked!
River very low and clear, water temperature dropped the night before. Bright sunshine all day.

Despite this, just about managed to get down the bank, close enough to the water.

Fished 2oz feeders with boilies, pellets and meat. No real promising bites for either of us!

Nice beat, would have been much better with slightly higher river and more colour.

Weather bright to overcast and back again over the course of a short day back to fish a wash-off from September. River in excellent condition this time. Three Grayling and one out of season trout all caught by two anglers nymphing pairs.
