No Salmon caught, 3 trout caught on my Salmon fly ( 2" Silver Rat tube ). Returned to river.
A small hatch of Dark Spring Olives but not many trout rising for them.
In any case an enjoyable day.

Brilliant day on this beat which is stunning. The river is very wide here and wading can be very difficult in places. We didn't see a huge amount of fly life but there were the odd isolated hatches later in the day. Two Grayling taken on the surface with Adams patterns later on in the day, 2 taken on spider patters and one on a jig nymph. One 8" WBT taken on a hares ear just under the bridge and a small Salmon Parr taken by surprise just upstream of the bridge in fast water. All in all, a great day in a spectacular place that we really didn't want to leave.

We also thoroughly recommend staying at Plas Gwyn, excellent accommodation in an ideal location for the Upper Wye. Also, The Seven Stars pub at Aberedw is probably the most welcoming village pub I've ever been in and the food is outstanding as well as being good value for money.

The water has fallen sharply and is the lowest I've yet seen, so much so, it was possible to wade across the river at the hut. I used the day to survey some of the beat I haven't fished before. It was a very useful exercise, but with so little water in many places, there was a dearth of fish.

I did catch 3 trout and 2 salmon smolts, which I have classed as 'other'. I don't really think they are what are meant as 'salmon'!

It was our first visit to this water and we had a great day. We arrived around 10am and started catching right away on heavy nymphs. As the day warmed up a few olives and the odd march brown appeared. The fish took a while to rise but once they did we had a few trout on jinglers. Biggest trout around a pound and all the out of season grayling were a good size, with one 1.5lb.
All in all a great day, watch out the wading is challenging!

Salmon fishing this morning, I do not think many have come up yet. We need more water yet.

Fished both the fly and spinner with nothing showing an interest. Didn't see a fish but did see the first 3 swallows of the year

A great day on the river; clear water and can't wait to go back in May.

1'6 on the gauge, the river moving the fly at a lovely speed. Perhaps a bit too bright or a bit too early yet for a good chance of a salmon this far up but a wonderful time had. Lots of trout seen leaping into the hatches. Great feeling to be leaving the river at 8.30pm once again... roll on the spring - summer.
