Fished the West Bank but found it difficult to find space to fish due to tree cover. Did lots of walking, little fishing. Beautiful place, any chance of a little more guidance regarding access points on the website?

Difficult day to start reservoir like a mill pond. Caught a couple of nice three quarter pound fish. Hooked a really decent fish in the deep water off the island, only to lose it just as I was about to net. Estimate two and a half to three pounds.

Cloudy and still, good fishing conditions at first - then it poured, then it became hot and sunny. All fish caught in the morning, went completely dead later. All fish nice healthy brown trout, safely returned. Not brilliant access- the fishing from the slip and dam was accessible but the banks were overgrown and steep. Noise of the road not bad, but as a result never felt any wildness at the place. All fish caught on small imitators.

Well , for a change booked Beacons Reservoir as it's been an age since I've been there . Arrived at the roadside layby at twenty to eight , a nice ripple on the water , overcast and light drizzle . . . Perfect I thought !!!

But it proved pretty hard going initially , and the fish weren't having any of it !!! So ringing the changes , with various wets , eventually up at the top end had a lovely solid take , and boy did he stay deep , lovely bend in the six weight Orvis rod too , cracking !!!! A solid bar of Welsh gold to the net and must have been fifteen inches , a beauty !!! Second , again was on the Peter Ross , pulled at a far rate of knots through the wave , saw the swirl , then another go and all went solid !!!! Spot on a and another cracker eventually to the net , again a big bruiser at maybe sixteen inches . . .

A bit of a quite spell , then I changed my dropper for a big bibio , which was a good move as I cast out up at the top end passed the stream and wading out towards the island , and bang a swirl literally as it landed , so just lifted the rod and he was on !!! Another cracker again possibly fifteen inches and an absolute bar of gold too !!! Last fish was the smallest of the morning , maybe twelve inches and was seen close in to the bank swirling at the clumsy heather flies !!! Cast passed were he last rose , stripped my team of two passed him . . . . Solid again , lovely job !!! So all in all a fun five hours . Not sure the North easterly helped but the dull dank morning did for sure !!!

I feel a note needs to be mentioned about the poaching there that is obviously being carried out , I disposed of some very thick line , probably twenty pound breaking strain !!! And also two rusty spinners !!! It's a shame and perhaps some effort needs to be done to what is a dwindling fishery !!! Back in the day this was a cracker !!!! The rubbish around the eastern side is a pity also . . . Lots of plastic bottles !!!perhaps some trail cameras and solid water proof signs need to go up !!!! Or this lovely little water will see its demise if it's not looked after . . . . That said a cracking few hours and a change from the wild streams . Back on the Arrow end of the week me thinks . . . . Happy days !!!!
