River had a nice flow and slight colour, weather cold and crispy just right for a few hours nymphing for grayling. Caught three nice sized grayling (around a pound) all from the deep slow runs, fishing right on the bottom. First two on hares ear, then the last one on a shrimp. Some pools were tricky to fish but thats half the fun. In one moment of madness I was tempted into fishing a particularly enticing run, where catching the grayling was the easy part, landing it was another matter altogether, but we shook hands in the end and perhaps we'll meet again another day.

Despite heavy rain the day before, the river was still running fairly clear but was fast flowing. We decided to give it a go and fished for half a day. Deep pools and thick vegetation on the bank made access difficult at times. No grayling but 3 OOS trout caught to French leader and nymphs.

1 grayling lost in the first half hour then nothing all day apart from one possible tickle. River still high and backside scrambling tricky.

Nothing happening. Heavy rain the day before may have contributed. Nice spot, but not really any sense that a catch was on the cards.

The river was low, slow and very clear which made presentation of nymphs a little difficult. However, this didn't deter the trout although the grayling were harder to track down. Those that did come to the net were all nice specimens which made for a good days fishing. Small copper and pink beaded ptns seemed to work best.
The other fish caught were a couple of greedy minnows who were cleanly hooked in the mouth!

First visit to this beat. Mix of shallow riffles and deep, very slow moving pools. 2 anglers caught and returned 2 large and 2 small grayling on ptn and red tag.

A new beat for us - there were two anglers. Very impressed with the management of the angling facilities - in fact with the entire farm. Though the banks were largely covered in brambles, balsam and nettles, which seems to be obligatory these days, fencing was a single stand of electrified fence which was easily scalable. Weather was good though water was low. Wading was relatively easy but with occasional deep holes so caution was necessary. As ever, my buddy proved his superior ability and landed 3 grayling (one a very nice fish) and an OOS trout. I wasn't completely outclassed though as I managed to land one 10 inch or so grayling late in the day.

Couldn’t resist coming back for a second time. Lovely river and good sport throughout the afternoon on trotted maggots. Hope to be back next year.
