A rather pleasant few hours playing with my new rod, first chance I've had to use it! Fished 2 - 5, no sign of any fish. Best needs a nice mown lawn alongside and ideally signs pointing to where the fish are. That said, the otter I watched hunting just upstream from me probably didn't help my chances. Definitely nothing to do with my ineptitude.

River in great condition but couldn't find the grayling. Some coppicing done since I last fished here and it's improved the access. A nice day out in a month which seems to have had 75 days in it! (75 and still counting: WUF comment!)

The River was up and coloured. It looked ideal but I couldn't track down the grayling. Fished the float and small feeder and ended up with 6 small brownies.

2 x grayling 13 and 14 inches, trotting. A warm, windy day with cloud but the fishing was unaccountably difficult. Also two fish came off before I could see what they were.

Proper winter's day - frosty but bright. River probably a bit high for flies - I couldn't find any grayling at any rate. Just the one OOS trout grabbed a nymph.

Thought I would try a new spot out but unfortunately it was terrible conditions and I couldn't really fish. I did briefly throw a line in but abandoned the day shortly afterwards.

Slightly mirky water and quite deep in places so had to wade very carefully but a lovely beat. A couple of takes on a black head hares ear under a brown/grey klinkhammer but couldn't get them in. Unable to identify fish type. I will be returning sometime!

After a wet week my fishing companion and I feared the worst but were pleasantly surprised to find the Arrow in eminently fishable condition, ideal for trotting maggots. However, I failed to connect with any grayling although I did land four out of season trout -6", 2 x 9" and one of 12"- and contrived to lose a bigger fish at the net. My companion persevered with the top weirpool but had only one small trout for his efforts, so moved downstream and landed a nice 12" grayling - our last fish of the day as the forecast heavy rain set in.

Blank for grayling, 14 x out of season trout 7- 13 inches, Green Insect. A very cold day, especially the morning with a proper white frost. I struggled and failed to get in contact with grayling during the morning with nymphs. Changed to dry fly after seeing a few dark olives, but every rising fish turned out to be an out of season trout.

River level was up over the depth gauge and was pulling through too quickly to really give us a chance. Having driven for 90 minutes to get there and being unfamiliar with the water we felt there was no option other than to give it a go. We flogged it from dawn till dusk and had one small trout just before the end of the day. Very disappointing fishing but at least it was sunny and did not rain.
