After much debate about current conditions we decided to go ahead with the trip, the unexpected but much appreciated cloud cover lasted to past midday. Despite the river being low and clear we managed to winkle a few decent Chub out of the streamer weed but once the cloud had gone it was a waste of time, packed up and on the way home by 7pm. Two others were Eels.

River low and clear. Half a dozen Chub from the streamer weed on meat. The huge bull and his harem with several calves in the first field was a bit unnerving!!.

Good day on the wye but slightly disappointing ending with not getting another barbel or two. Rivers on its knees and you can see the bottom in pretty much all the stretch, especially when the sun gets up, but that didn’t stop the chub who were good sport all day on float and feeder tactics. Other was 2 eel and 1 dace, eels proved difficult to unhook as always but we got there in the end lol
1 Barbel, 36 Chub, 3 Other
