Fished the afternoon. Had one fish which was a barbel just under 10lb.

River falling slowly with little colour. Weather mild and cloudy. I hoped I might pick up a barbel or two but it was not to be and I had to be content with a couple of evening chub up to about 3lbs (and a bigger one lost in the bankside vegetation). Just the same a very pleasant mid-November session.

A lovely afternoon on the Wye, with the river in perfect condition and mild, increasingly cloudy weather. I enjoyed watching a late small tortoiseshell butterfly in the initial sunshine and there was then a period of a couple of hours which brought three barbel and the chub. I had to wait until the last cast of the evening to catch the biggest barbel. All the fish fell to meat bait and feeder tactics.
