A rare hard day on the beat, with the first cold autumnal day taking its toll on the fishing, 10c colder than the day before with a northerly blast to boot. PS winkled out 12 chub on the float and BJ had the rest on the bomb, but not a solitary fish rose all day. All chub were the usual 3-4lb size apart from one whale that was closer to 6 than it was 5.

Only 1 barbel caught and 1 barbel lost between us. Both bites came on meat with pellets and groundbait in the feeder.

A lovely five hours at Craig Llyn. Sunshine, warmth, good flows and lots of fish rising made it feel like being on the river in May.
Many of the fish were tight to the banks under the trees so it might have been some sort of terrestrial they were taking. However, they seemed happy enough with a small cdc emerger. The biggest grayling was weighed in the net at a shade under 1lb but the numbers and almost constant dry fly action made up the lack of specimens today.

Another beautiful day at Whitney .Fish early on & then all quiet until 5pm as the sun was going down & the cows came down to bathe, drink & fertilise the water... fortunately they avoided our tackle which was evenly spaced along the bank. Bright sun most of the day & quite still. All the usual bird life except no Buzzards or Kites seen today which are usually abundant.
Barbel took meat baits of various sorts but nothing was interested in boilies/pellets. Cage feeders+ ground bait used.
Thanks all for such an opportunity, a day to remember.
