Caught one Barbel of 10lb 9oz, on hook bait of home made cheese paste, with a maggot feeder, in high level fast flowing river about 15' from bank. Any further could not hold bottom. A fantastic fish caught (pity only one) on a river devastated by our resent flooding. Well worth the 2hr drive from Devon. Will be back soon to fish further down the stretch.

Blanked! River still high and coloured but falling steadily. Couple of Salmon active in eddies but nowt else to report. Thought we might pick up a few barbel or chub but hey thats fishing for you. I suppose after the wild weather we are just recovering from we should be grateful for a day on the banks no matter what the outcome.

Our first trip to this lovely stretch of the Wye, however with water on and muddy banks from the recent floods there were not many swim options available and the water was still quite fast on the near bank. We managed two Barbel, the largest 8lb 4oz both caught on heavy feeders.

River had come up over night making accessing the swims difficult. I had 9 barbel and my mate had 1 and a chub.
Fantastic stretch of river that would benefit from a bit of tree clearance being carried out.
