Really fun evening on the local stretch. Couple of clonkers to a 1.5lb ish. Bridge section came up empty for once though. Great session.

A really nice beat, plenty of fishing although I think it will become increasingly tricky in the coming months as the undergrowth and trees fill out.
Forecast was for dull, mild weather but instead was a mix of light through to heavy rain, gusty and a tad chilly.
Much higher than expected and frustratingly very coloured water - a strange pallor to the water, more grey than brown. It looked as if the water had been very high recently and it was still coming through at a fast pace, compared with my last visit back in March.
No hatch seen and not much luck, despite trying both nymphs and a team of wets. Did get 3 bites around 1230, all in the same spot, felt like a small fish or perhaps a grayling as in a spot where I had caught grayling on a previous visit, just under the footbridge (not sure if there are plans to repair the bridge, as it would certainly make access that bank much easier).
Shame to have a blank but will definitely be back for the challenge as really interesting beat.

Fishing Passport Note : Work to improve access to the river will be taking place on 26th June 2023

Beautiful venue, with easy access including stiles over, and gates through, the electric fence. I fished the stretch between the weir and the footbridge. River was not particularly high but flowing fast after rain all day yesterday and I was a bit wary about wading in parts.

No rises, and no sign of a hatch, so stuck to nymphs and west, but no luck. Hopefully a return later in the season will prove more productive.

Looking at the gauges, I thought the river would be lower. Lots of water- no way I was getting in. I wonder if there could be some guidance from beat owners on the passport? I'm sure some owners would be worried about losing business, but they would actually get more if fishers know when to spend their bucks.

Overcast sky but reasonably bright, chilly at about 5 degrees but the wind not too bad. First visit to this beat and really enjoyed it - a great mix of runs and a lovely setting. The bottom end of the beat looked a bit more like an assault course with lots of downed trees but still plenty of fishing along this long beat.
Access pretty good, gates and paths all well maintained, although plenty of debris on the banks from the winter floods. I imagine that access would be harder in places once everything has grown back in the summer months.
Fished a team of 3 flies, 5 grayling, to about 9-10 inches.
Although no obvious hatch, there was a brief stretch around 1230-1300 when the fish started to feed at surface but short lived.
