River very low and clear. 1 chub of around 2lb and 3 barbel 5.10 6.8 and 7lb. All the fish were in great condition and came from the faster section at the top of the beat. A fantastic place to fish and we can't wait to fish it again. Thanks to Wye and Usk.

River a bit low and weather warm with some sunshine. Tried a variety of baits but only connected when I put bread paste on the hook and fished the deeper shaded margins. Total of five fish - all barbell, best about 7 or 8 Lb. A great day.

Again with the water low and clear we thought that catching fish might be a no go. We had 7 Barbel between us using spicy baits and ground baits. The weather was overcast so I believe this helped. Fished the upper section by the orchard finding the channel two thirds across. So nice to be out within great scenery watching the wildlife go by. Thanks to WUF for letting this happen.

The river was running low and very clear making fishing difficult. That said the morning produced 8 fish with the first a Barbel of 7 1/2lb from Bait pool it took a pellet bait with feeder. The next 7 fish came from the area of the orchard. I waded out to a gravel bank near there and set up. I fished the far side into a pool under a group of trees. I started initially using a pellet and feeder and took a small Chub of a couple of ounces. I then waited an hour before the next fish which was a 5lb Barbel, the fish then came fast with 3 more Barbel the largest being 7 1/2lb. Two more Chub were caught of 3 1/2lb size. These all went for a Boilie with crushed boilie and pellet in a feeder. I had to wade out to deeper water to land the fish as it was difficult to get a landing net under the fish due to the river level being that low. At 12pm we moved down towards the Mill pool part of the beat and another Barbel of 5lb was landed between the Orchard and Mill pool on pellet and feeder. The last Chub of the day came just before last light to a boilie.
A difficult but great days fishing in amazing countryside. All fish were in excellent condition.

An improvement on last week at Middle Hill Ct. River still low but settled opposite house where I believed the Mill Pool was at the lower half of beat. Top half of beat was far too low. Had two lovely Barbel in 5-6lb range, top condition and incredible fighters. Lost three others as they charged into weed. A lovely Chub in the first ten minutes as well. Saw big Perch patrolling in front of me but couldn't get them. Kingfishers to keep me company all day. Some canoeists but very respectful. Good parking and the cows were no trouble, kept their distance.

Second day of three for the three chub and barbel virgins from Northern Ireland. Another extremely beautiful stretch with abundant bird life but again very low water. We looked first at the upper reach, above the orchard, but found the water to look painfully low. We also felt that we would have difficulty finding suitable swims for all three of us as, like yesterday, many were left high above the water.
We found the lower reach to look slightly more appealling. Although slower and with less features, it did appear to be a little deeper. This gave us a little more confidence. The fishing again we found to be very difficult. A few dace, some of which seemed of quite good size for the species, allowed us to tick off another new species. At last light I managed to land a chub of four pounds, another first for myself.

Booked for 22/23 September. Monday 22nd. With blazing sunshine & low water we were always up against it. No barbel caught but lost one at the net. Decided to trot & what a fantastic afternoon we had. Lost count of the chub, dace & perch we caught but real quality fishing. Biggest perch went 2 1/2lb. On the 23rd it was pretty much the same weather wise until the afternoon when we got some cloud cover. I hooked into two barbel but unfortunately was cut off. So a day of missed opportunities. But who's complaining we were on the finest river in the country. Simply glorious to be on its banks. Can't wait to go back. WUF do an amazing job.

Chub up to 5lb 3oz, barbel 6lb 5oz. 3 lost fish. All fish in faster flows but lots of streamer weed coming down river dragging even 5oz feeders out of place so bite indication very difficult. Access to fishery very good but not to swims. Lots of chub caught on trotting maggots.
1 Barbel, 13 Chub
