Nice day on a dropping river. Height 1.0 on the chainbridge gauge, water clear enough. Beat very fishable/ wadeable at this height. 2 Finnock around 1lb which surprised me as I did not know the Usk was well known for sea trout, lost another and additional takes. Fun fishing. Both had sea lice.

Total wash-off on this beat.
Although it was impossible to enter the water after such flooding, the info said the lower pools could be fished with spinners from the bank (oak pool and barn pool). There was absolutely no access to the water from this bank due to unmaintained trees and brambles, which is disappointing considering we travelled to fish this specifically thinking there was a contingency for high water.
I also called the land-owner for help but they did not answer or return a call or message.

Managed to fish for a couple of hours on arrival but had to abandon fishing due to a Wash Off. Weather was grim.
Very coloured water with a strong flow making wading difficult. 1 beautiful 12" Brownie caught on goldhead hares ear size 14
Many thanks to the beat owner for keeping us up to date with river conditions and weather; very much appreciated! It was a good opportunity to check out the beat and we will certainly be returning when conditions are better.

Excellent height and reasonable colour by late afternoon. A few trout on SHFC and large tube flies. Great to revisit this lovely beat. Impressed the owner enquired as to how I got on.
Many thanks all.

Bright with some heavy showers. J.D. from Malvern nymphed the faster water and for myself, I targeted a few rising fish in the pools with dries. Not a bite between us . Started at the camp site, went upstream from there. I did see a salmon jump twice. The fish definitely won today! Chainbridge pub is now open and doing lunches. A charity donation allowed us to park at the campground.

A really tough day with conditions far from ideal, the river was running high and was very discoloured following some heavy rain, making fishing tricky. I couldn't tempt anything with nymphs or streamers in the deeper pools but fished the shallower ripples towards the end of the session and had two fish take my nymph, with the larger fish spitting the hook during a mighty leap and the second fish of about half a pound graciously coming to the net (and returned safely to fight another day). Thanks to Barry for taking the time to talk to me on the phone and for passing on his recommendations. A beautiful beat and I will be back to fish it again in hopefully better conditions.

Pleasant afternoon . Water .41m and clear.
A few fish moving so elected to fush dry using 12 size dark olive and landed one lovely trout frim head of rockpool.to 1.25 lb
My colleague fished woodstream with a plain haresear and caught 2 chub ofaround half pound.
.
While high on the bank at Rockpool saw a shoal of 6 chub to 2lb foraging the shallows and one larger specimen in the deeper water..
Also treated to a close encounter with a stoat who eyeballed me and sho off!!
Brilliant
