CM. River was low. Tried pellet and meat. Early afternoon tempted a Barbel about 6lb on meat, and just before packing up tempted a nice Chub of 5lb 4 oz on a halibut pellet. PM . Blanked.

Lovely stretch. Air and water temps both better than Sunday and the fishing was somewhat better as a result. Still didn't feel like it was fishing its head off though and we had to work hard for the fish we had. Was our first time on this stretch and would definitely come back. Decent access, nice surroundings and plenty of swims to suit different river conditions. On the day it seemed to be a bit "peggy" and there was a definite pay-off for my fishing partner who tried multiple spots versus me who was lazy and went for the bait and wait approach.

Disappointing day on one of my favourite stretches. Heavy rain didn't materialise which I hoped might rejuvenate the river, but still an enjoyable day.

We could only manage half a day today, so we targeted the Pike in the slower water at the downstream end. Unfortunately it was a bit snaggy in that area, but we did have four takes and landed one 10 lb Pike.

Day two on this great venue, but the fish were proving a little hard to find. Even the Gullies that were fishing our side of the bank by wading across from the other side found it hard going, but eventually we caught a few Chub and I had a lovely 11 lb 4 oz Barbel.

A lovely day on How Caple Court where we were greeted by a very chatty Game Keeper. We caught a few Chub, a lovely 20 lb Pike and a 10 lb 2 oz Barbel.

2nd day on the beautiful beat, but the fishing was very tough going, only one Chub to 4lb and no other bites.

A really tough fishing day was put down to a frosty start to the morning and bright sunshine all day. The 2 small chub came at dusk. Given the stunning scenery and beautiful sunshine, we didn't mind the tough days fishing.

Not our first visit to this beat so easily found. Mostly we fished the swims downstream of the centre tree line. It was an odd sort of day, there were fish to be caught but the bites were sporadic at best. One angler in a downstream swim managed to catch five barbel (with two lost) whilst another fished the swim just down from the tree line for 2 barbel and 2 chub. Most of the rods did a bit of moving around.... but getting a spot to fish consistently proved tricky. The level of the river seemed good, I'd hoped for a bit more colour in the water (it was clearing rapidly as we were fishing). Overhead it was generally sunny with an occasional overcast spell, perhaps the fishing replicated this a little. Whatever, it was certainly not our worst day on the river... and to spend a few hours in a place as picturesque is always time well spent.
