Hadn’t been to this stretch for a few weeks and oh my goodness….. jungle warfare just to reach the river! Nettles, balsam…. A poke around with the wading stick to find the drop offs all required several times as you enter and exit the river. Absolutely no fish rising which was a surprise. Managed 2 wbt to the nymph (duo tactics). Think I’ll try more open irfon beats next to have a rest from bank clearance!

2 Trout

Evening session in the hope that the mayfly would be on the menu for the trout. However, despite plenty of fly life, minimal surface activity. Preserved with a dry and enjoyed the cooling water after such heat earlier.

Fished from around 11:30am until 2:30pm. Beautiful day as the expected heatwave showed it was on its way. Plenty of mayfly shucks but little evidence of trout feasting on the emerges. Nevertheless, 3 lovely wbt to the klinkhammer.

Bright/ warm/sunny. Clear water. No risers. 1 good trout (1.5 lbs or so) on goldhead PTN.

Arrived just before 10am. Blue sky and temperature above freezing but ground and riverbank frozen hard. Trotting maggots through the deeper pools. One good grayling caught and another hooked and lost. River fishable with level 0.32m at Titley Mill and running clear. Fished for about 5 hours.

Lovely to start the year with a bit of fishing even at this temperature! Unfortunately the grayling weren’t interested in various nymphs Nice day out all the same

River high, fast, and lots of foliage/debris coming down. One Kingfisher and One Egret seen - nice couple of hours in the winter sun.

Condition were good from the bridge. Fishing was more difficult and pools were too deep at the weir end.
